College Spotlight: Elon University

Elon

Elon, derived from the Hebrew word for “oak” is situated on a 656-acre campus, in the town of Elon, NC which is designated as a botanical garden. It has been voted the top college in the nation dedicated to student success and boasts among the highest percentage of students conducting undergraduate research with faculty. The school has been shooting up in rankings (now, ranked top school in the south according to US News and World Report) and is becoming more popular and much more selective year over year.  One reason is its commitment to engaged learning. To graduate, students must participate in at least two Elon Experiences, which include study abroad, undergraduate research, internships, service-learning, writing-intensive courses and living-learning communities.  The 4-1-4 academic calendar makes it easy for students to take the month of January to focus on a study or activity at home or abroad.   Their most notable majors are business and communications, and students take advantage of incredible resources, including a full trading room and TV studio. However, they offer a full range of majors; some of the most interesting include Arts Administration, Game Design, Theatrical Design & Technology, Environmental Engineering, Communication Design, Nursing, and Sports Management.

The Love School of Business also offers an accelerated 3+1 dual degree, where students earn both a BA and MS in just 4 years, as well as International Business Dual Degrees with NEOMA in Reims, France, ESB in Reutlingen, Germany, Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE, in Madrid, Spain, and Universitá Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, in Piacenza, Italy.

The Phoenix compete in Division I Colonial Athletic Division in the Southeastern Conference.
